Standardized Patient Program
The Howard University Simulation & Clinical Skills Center utilizes Standardized Patients (SPs) to enhance healthcare education by providing realistic patient interactions for learners. The program focuses on three key areas: Standardized Patient Methodology, which ensures SPs are trained to portray medical conditions consistently and provide constructive feedback to students; Become an SP, offering opportunities for individuals to join the program and contribute to the training of future healthcare professionals; and Existing SP Resources, which provide ongoing support, training materials, and development opportunities for current SPs. Through this structured approach, the SP program plays a vital role in improving clinical skills, communication, and patient-centered care.
